Funeral service with full military honors for LTC (Retired) Ephraim Jerry “E.J.” Burrow will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 11, 2023 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Gaches, Pastor of First Baptist West, Lawton, Oklahoma officiating.

Placement at the Fort Sill National Cemetery Columbarium will be at a later date.

LTC (Retired) Ephraim Jerry “E.J.” Burrow, 89, of Lawton, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 in Lawton. He was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Jesse W. and Scyble Ann (Parrish) Burrow. He lived in Pocahontas until he joined the Army in 1955. Jerry received a Bachelor of Science from Arkansas State College in 1955, and a Bachelor of Business from Cameron University in 1985. Jerry was active-duty Army from 1955 until 1972, and US Army Reserve from 1972 until he retired in 1984 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served tours of duty in Germany, Korea, Libya, Vietnam, and Fort Sill. Jerry was licensed in real estate in 1971, working with several local agencies before opening his own office in 1990. He retired from real estate in 2001. Jerry and Marilyn J. Byerly married on November 25, 1961 in Cicero, Illinois. He loved his family and was very proud of his sons and grandchildren. Jerry was passionate about the military, hunting, fishing, serving with the Lawton Noon Lions, Vietnam Veterans Association, and working on his Sunday school lesson. He was an active member of First Baptist West, Lawton.

Jerry is survived by his wife of the home; son and daughter in law, Stephen and Cene’ Burrow, Texarkana, Arkansas; son and daughter in law, Michael and Shea Burrow, Duncan, Oklahoma; grandchildren; Lauren and Caleb Plett, Ringling, Oklahoma; Jesse Burrow, Oklahoma City; Micaela Burrow, Falls Church, Virginia; and Gabriele Burrow, Riverside, California; sister, Betty Halpenny, Olive Branch, Mississippi; brother in law, Bob Franklin, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, David Clark Burrow; parents; stepmother, Beatrice Burrow; brother, Kern Burrow and wife, Mary Nell; sisters, Fern Henderson and husband, HO Henderson; Violet Benson and husband, Kenneth Benson; brothers in law, Frank Halpenny and Rowland Byerly; sister-in-law, Lois Franklin.

His assurance of salvation and eternal hope was established as a teenager at Ravenden Springs, Arkansas Youth Baptist Encampment where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, and soon afterward he demonstrated that by being baptized in the Black River in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He had a wealth of information and knowledge in his keen mind, which was sharp to the end. He taught his sons many life skills, and brought adventure, laughter, and lots of projects to our lives. He loved to visit and talk with people; he never met a stranger.

He was deeply loved and will be very missed.
