Allen “Blue” Vanwinkle Jr., 88, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Blue was born on April 27, 1935, in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Allen and Sylvia Brown Vanwinkle.

Blue is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Sylvia Brown Vanwinkle; his wife Wava Lois McCarty Vanwinkle; and his daughter Sandra Thielemier Vanwinkle.

Blue is survived by his sons Lance (Johnna) Vanwinkle, and Michael (Sharon) Vanwinkle, both of Pocahontas; grandchildren Bradley (Amber) Vanwinkle, Whitney (Dustin) Blackshear, Brody (Jordan) Vanwinkle, and Lacy Vanwinkle; great-grandchildren Colton Vanwinkle, Jackson Vanwinkle, Ashlynn Blackshear, Allyson Blackshear, Cameron Lawrence, Jadyn Lawrence, Keegan Vanwinkle, and Kailyn Vanwinkle; sisters Betty Travis of Washington, Missouri and Gloria Jean (Doris) Williams of Pocahontas; and several nieces and nephews.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Bob French, Joe French, Dennis French, Chuck Andrews, Pat Prince, Eddie Simmons Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Gay All services will be held in the chapel of Hope Gardens Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to immediately follow with Gerald Fears officiating. Blue will be laid to rest in Masonic Cemetery.
