Wanda Phillips

Wanda Lea (Martin) Phillips of Pocahontas, AR departed from this life Sunday, September 3, 2023. She was born in Maynard, AR on March 19, 1939 to Elmer and Ruby Martin. She was raised in Northeast Arkansas, and after marrying, Wanda and her husband of 65 years, Burnard Franklin Phillips, lived all over the world due to his commitment to the army. In 1974, they returned to Arkansas, and she worked for Brown Shoe Company and ProGroup.

Wanda’s greatest joys were her children, Julia Phillips of Cordova, TN; Rusty Phillips of Pocahontas, AR; and Steven Phillips of Mountain Home, AR, as well as her grandchildren, Megan (B.J.) Dunson of Victoria, MS; Mariah Phillips of Little Rock, AR; Jessica Adam of Cordova, TN; Emily Phillips of Cabot, AR; Madison (Buddy) Williams of Pocahontas, AR; and Dylan Phillips of Pocahontas, AR; and two great grandchildren. She delighted in having the family at her table, where she was known to be a great cook. She also enjoyed gardening and birdwatching.

Wanda attended First Pentecostal Church of Pocahontas, where she was a faithful member.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as three of her siblings, Thelma Miller, Mary Martin, and James Martin. She is survived by her siblings, Faye Holland, Hazel Green, and Jean Martin. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to funeral services at McNabb Funeral home in Pocahontas, AR. The graveside service will follow at Ingram Cemetery in Maynard, AR.

Proverbs 31:28 says, “Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her,” which can be said about this loving wife, mom, and mamaw.
