Willard Winebaugh
Willard Ray Winebaugh passed away Sunday, November 13th at Concordia nursing home in Bella Vista, AR at the age of 94. Willard was born in Pocahontas, AR on June 4, 1928 to the late Eunice and Ethel Winebaugh.
Willard grew up in Pocahontas, helping on the family farm during his youth, and served in the United States Army from 1950-1952, including 342 days of combat in North Korea. Upon return to Arkansas after military service, he graduated from barber college in Little Rock in 1955. After swapping a few haircuts with fellow soldiers in Korea, he decided to give it a try as a profession, and ended up spending 46 years as a barber. Many men in Pocahontas will remember haircuts from Willard at his shop in East Pocahontas or at the Sanitary Barber Shop on the square. Upon retirement he proudly served for several years with the VFW Honor Guard.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viella Winebaugh; brothers Homer and Roy Winebaugh; and sisters Beatrice and Elsie Winebaugh and Ruby Bennett.
He is survived by daughter Annetta (Winebaugh) Tirey and husband Spencer; granddaughters Allison and Hayley Young; step-daughter Pat Miles and husband Randy; nieces Martha Lundsten and Mary Ann Mueller; and nephew Harold Winebaugh.
A visitation will be held Thursday November 17, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:00pm in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel in Pocahontas with the a funeral service to begin at 12:00pm with Nelson Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Gardens.
The VFW Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Harold Winebaugh, Randy Miles, and Spencer Tirey will serve as honorary pallbearers
