Terrill Luter

Terrill Luter, 78, made a peaceful transition to his heavenly home on November 23, 2021 after an extended battle with lung cancer. Terrill was born on June 30, 1943 to Theo and Nadine Luter in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He spent his youth there working on his family dairy farm until he graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1961.
Shortly after graduation, Terrill married the love of his life, Gail Jackson Luter, and moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. They built a family with the birth of their daughter, Lisa, and later their son, Mike. During his time in Hot Springs, Terrill worked for Arkansas Bank and Trust, Pirelli Cable and the Garland County Farmer’s Association. Terrill was previously involved in the Lions Club, and was an active member of Hot Springs Baptist Church.
Terrill was passionate about his faith, family, friends and fishing (normally in that order, though sometimes fishing moved up the list). He was an avid Razorback fan (as if he didn’t suffer enough with cancer) and loved hosting family fish fries. Terrill loved to laugh, and was the consummate husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He and Gail were married 59 years, and he truly loved her as Christ loves the church. He was so very proud of his children and grandchildren, and beamed with pride at the arrival of his first great grandchild. He never met a stranger, and had the ability to make everyone he met feel special. He was a mentor to many. Most importantly, Terrill possessed an unshakable faith, and openly professed his love for the Lord. He would ask if you take anything away from knowing him, it is to know and trust the Lord with all your heart.
Terrill was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Nadine Luter; sister, Patricia Christine Luter; and brother, James Vernon Luter. He is survived by his wife, Gail Jackson Luter; his daughter, Lisa Luter Longinotti (Steve); his son, Michael Terrill Luter; his grandsons, Stephen Terrill Longinotti (Leah), David Andrew Longinotti (Andie); his great grandson, Elias David Longinotti; his sister, Genny Luter Barr (Howard), and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Terrill’s life was held at Hot Springs Baptist Church, 144 Weston Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71913 on Monday, November 29, 2021.
