Billie Wade Harper 1934-2022
Billie Wade Harper, 88, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the Eagle Crest Nursing & Rehab Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Wade was born on Tuesday, January 9, 1934, in Maynard, Arkansas, to Rex A. and Mae Hill Harper.
Wade was a very hard worker who, with a limited education, founded Harper Construction. When his son Bill joined him, the name was changed to B & B Harper Construction Company. After retirement, Wade continued to perform work for several funeral homes throughout Randolph, Lawrence, and Sharp counties. He also built and operated B & B
Mini Storage.
Wade was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. As a member of the Randolph/Lawrence County Cattlemen’s Association, he served two terms as president. Wade also enjoyed an annual pheasant hunt in South Dakota with his hunting buddies.
Wade is preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Mae Harper; five brothers, Conway, Junior, Don, Dean, and Thomas A. Harper; and two sisters, Merlene Brown and Joyce Goodsell; and granddaughter, Carol Jean Harper.
Wade is survived by his wife, Beatrice Harper, of the home; son, Bill Harper, of Pocahontas; daughter, Brenda (John) Shields, of Hardy; four grandchildren, Lisa (Todd) Schaefer, John Jr. (Brandy) Shields, Susan (Dustin) Eddington, and Emily Harper; eight great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
All services were held at St. Paul Catholic Church, in Pocahontas, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Burial was in the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery.
Honored to carry Wade to his final earthly resting place were his brothers of the Knights of Columbus 2443 Pocahontas Council.
