The Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex will host its “August ATA Shoot” on Saturday, Aug. 16. Registration will be held from 8-10 a.m., with shooting beginning at 9 a.m. Late registration may be available as space permits.

Black River Technical College The Randolph County Library wrapped up the 2025 Summer Reading Program on July 31. The children’s library was transformed into a vibrant art explosion to match our theme, Color Our World. We were able to host several programs throughout the summer months, providing families with some much-needed local activities. All of our programs were free to attend, well attended, and the children surpassed their reading goals! Our youngest group of readers logged over 800 books read, and our older groups read almost 54,000 minutes this summer! We are already excitedly planning next summer’s activities! We couldn’t do any of this without the support of our community. We are grateful to all our sponsors who made this possible.
On Sunday, July 6 the First United Methodist Church in Corning and Pocahontas welcomed the Reverend George Odell as their new pastor. Pocahontas FUMC was previously served by Rev. Pat Bodenhamer from July 2019 to June of this year when she decided to take a leave of absence. She has recently completed the non-traditional certification teacher’s exam and will be the seventh and eighth grade English teacher at Pocahontas Junior High School. Corning FUMC was previously served by Rev. Lisa Girard from July 2022 until February of this year when she resigned due to health reasons. As part of this shared pastorate, service times will be changing for both churches. At Corning, the new time will be 8:30 a.m. and at Pocahontas, 10:15 a.m.

The University of Arkansas honored its most recent graduating class with a series of spring commencement ceremonies at Bud Walton Arena and Barnhill Arena, and the School of Law’s ceremony at the Fayetteville Town Center.

The Monday Night Ladies Bowling League will start on August 18 at 6 p.m. All skills level are welcome to sign up. No experience needed. The weekly dues are affordable. There will be prizes along with an end of season celebration. Shoes and ball available on site. The league will be played at P & R Bowling Alley.
