BRTC Dean of General Education retires after 38 years of service

Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Dean of General Education Donna Statler has retired after 38 years of service. Before accepting the role of dean in 2017, Statler served in different positions throughout the college like GED Instructor, Math Instructor, and Math Division Chair. To thank her for her years of service, BRTC held a retirement reception on the Pocahontas campus. Around 60 guests made up of faculty, staff, family, and friends came to celebrate. Dr. Martin Eggensperger, BRTC President, and Dr. Brad Baine, Vice President of Academic Affairs, welcomed and thanked everyone for attending before sharing stories of Statler’s kindness.

City of Pocahontas announces yoga at Overlook Park

City of Pocahontas Parks & Recreation will be hosting yoga at Overlook Park May 10 at 10 a.m. Yoga therapist and owner of Active Kat Yoga; Kat Robinson will be instructing this class in the park. To pre-register you can visit cityofpocahontas.com under event signups. This class will be an hour long session costing $10 per person. You can also pay day of or sign up at city hall during business hours.

PCSL course offered

Keith Sutton Five Rivers Shooting Range is offering a Practical Competition Shooting League Course (PCSL). This course will be offered in two courses a basic fundamentals and a skills & drills course. Adults for each course are $50 or $75 for both. Youth 12+ is $20 per course or $30 for both. Saturday, June 14 will be youth course. Saturday, June 7 will be the adult courses. All Shooting Range Members will get half off these courses.
