Mayor delivers State of the City address as council discusses housing economy and public safety

The Pocahontas City Council met on March 11 to address key community concerns, including affordable housing, economic development and public safety measures. The meeting also included discussions on funding applications for the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program (ACEDP) and ending with the State of the City address by Mayor Futrell.

Free spring break activities announced at Lake Charles State Park

Looking for a fun and educational way to spend spring break? Lake Charles State Park has you covered. From March 22 to March 29, the park will offer a variety of engaging programs that highlight the unique wildlife, ecosystems and outdoor recreation opportunities the park has to offer. Whether you’re curious about the mammals of the park, interested in trying edible insects, eager to prowl for owls or want to try your hand at fly fishing, there’s something for everyone. These programs are free and require no registration.

NEA Wounded Warrior Group accepting scholarship applications

The NEA Wounded Warrior Group is honored to provide scholarships this year. The scholarship amount is typically greater than $500. The exact amount will depend on the number of valid applications. Applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree or trade school certification at an accredited college or university.
