Spring is prime time for new life. New lambs, new calves, new piglets. But it is also prime time for new litters of puppies and kittens – puppies and kittens that will ultimately meet the end of their short life by a euthanasia needle because their only ‘crime’ was being born into a pet over-populated world where they can’t find a home. This is 100% preventable by making sure all your dogs and cats are not indiscriminately reproducing.

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive on March 14 at the Randolph County Library in the storytime room at 111 W. Everett Street. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
