Letters to the Editor on any subject are welcome. Letters written under the following guidelines will be considered for publication: Letters to the Editor are considered for publication on any topic, written in 300 words or less, including name, phone number and city of residence of the writer for verification purposes. Phone numbers will NOT be printed in the newspaper or on the Star Herald website.

Redskin swim team compete in North Little Rock

On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Pocahontas Redskins Swim Team traveled to Lonoke to compete in the North Little Rock HIgh School February Invite. In the 200 Medley Relay, the relay team of Audrie Gann, Blake Hall, Lauren Olson, and Chloe Fort, placed second with a 2:19.09. Lauren won the 200 Free with a 2:20.44. In the 50 Free, Blake came in second with a 29.59, Audrie was fifth with a 32.98, and Chloe placed seventh with a 38.03. In the 100 Fly, Lauren broke her school record, swimming a 115.18, finishing in second place. Chloe swam a 2:02.03 and came in fifth. Blake won the 100 Free with a 1:07.26. The 200 Free Relay team of Blake, Audrie, Chloe, and Lauren took second with a 2:08.18.

BARBARA DENEANE MCFARLIN

Barbara Deneane McFarlin, 54, of Pocahontas died suddenly, February 5, 2025. Born May 5, 1970, in Pahokee, FL; daughter of the late, Earl Mann Jr and Frances Jean Lee Mann. Barbara was a homemaker, caring friend, and loved dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Dewayne Lott. Survivors include her two sons, Earl McFarlin of Fort Drum, NY, and Jack Nelson of Bentonville; two sisters, Vickie Lott, Joplin, MO, and Diane McMahan of Archer, FL; three brothers, Jack, Jimmy, and Phillip Mann all of Jonesboro; many other relatives and friends. MARSHA LYNN BURRIS

Marsha Lynn Burris, 55, of Pocahontas, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Marsha was born on October 28, 1969, in Pocahontas, to Max Earl Seamans and Norma Keel Baltz. Her compassionate spirit, immense heart, and unwavering love for her family made her a cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Known for her selflessness, Marsha would do anything to help others, and her kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. Her legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
