From Scratch

If winter blues, constant rain, and the threat of catching whatever plague is going around had a theme song, it would be a sad trombone playing in the background of my life right now. The combination of cold, sickness, and endless dreary days has me crankier than a cat getting a bath—just ask my husband.

So, this is going to be one of those “here’s what we have in Pocahontas” type columns this week. After spending much of the week out and about in the community— mainly because the weather has been so nice, but also because I love getting out and visiting folks—I have plenty to share.

Mike and I went by a policeman with someone pulled over. The driver was sitting in his vehicle and the policeman was in his doing paperwork. This brought us to discussing when we were young and dumb and got pulled over. The policeman then would bring you to sit in the car with them. I guess they can’t really do that now with how the world has changed. It’s a shame because I can tell you one thing, when you are 16 years old, sitting beside this man in uniform that has to be at least 9 foot tall with a gun strapped to his side, talking about how he knows your dad, it makes you want to slow down and drive right... God bless the law enforcement that patrol in this day and time.

Life is a Journey

As I heard all the weather reports of snow at the beach, I had a strong urge to take off and race to Gulf Shores to witness it all, this is history in the making! After all, it is our favorite beach, though we have been to several beaches along the Gulf and have even gone to beaches in other countries. But it’s Gulf Shores/ Orange Beach that we love best and it feels most like home. The grandkids have made so many memories here the youngest granddaughter was proposed to, and as if on cue thunderous cheers went up from people lining all the balconies. The facts of the business are we all just love Gulf Shores, and that is where we always want to return to. But even if we had gone yesterday we wouldn’t escape this cold, for we would be chasing it. But we surely would’ve gotten some of the most awesome (coolest) beach pictures ever in this snow, it is after all going to be Historical! I ran upstairs this morning and held a huge old conk shell to my ear to hear the sound of the ocean, it must be frozen. Y’all I may be old but I still get excited, we have our own private booking agent and she has notified me, that she just booked a Condo for us today. Spring Break it is, color us excited, the forecast is warm, and no sign of snow.
