Redskins fall to Sloan-Hendrix in WBU semi-final
Dallas Durham pumped in 27 points as the two seed Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds outlasted the six seed Pocahontas Redskins 52-46 in the semifinal round of the WBU High School Tournament Friday, December 6. Sloan-Hendrix (12-2) advanced to the semifinals by defeating Hillcrest after receiving a first round bye. Pocahontas (3-0) advanced by defeating Hoxie and Bay.

Jr. Lady Redskins still unbeaten: Sr. Lady Redskins fall to Newport
The Pocahontas Jr. Lady Redskins remain perfect on the season improving to 7-0 with a 53-7 win over the Newport Jr. Lady Greyhounds. Newport had no answer for the Redskins defensive pressure and were forced into numerous turnovers. Aubrey Coffey led Pocahontas with 19 points, Brayleigh Carter added 11, Adrienne Mahan had 10, Sydney Percifull had eight, Lexi Ring and Emma Conway had two each and Aly Winslow chipped in one.

Pocahontas Redskins Swim Team competes in the Lion Holiday Invitational
The Pocahontas Redskins Swim Team traveled to Searcy on Saturday, Dec. 7 to compete in the Lion Holiday Invitational. Representing the Redskins were Steven Thibeault, Abbigail Percifull, Audrie Gann, Chloe Fort, and Lauren Olson. Steven swam a 42.62 in the 50 Free and a 2:07.13 in the 100 Back. For the Lady Redskins, in the 200 IM, Audrie came in fourth with a 3:14.68. In the 50 Free, Abbigail came in fifth with a 29.21 and Audrie finished ninth with a 33.44. In the 100 Free, Lauren swam a state qualifying time with a 1:02.66, coming in third. Chloe swam a 1:30.01 for 12th place. The 200 Free Relay team of Lauren, Chloe, Audrie, and Abbigail finished third with a 2:08.98. In the 100 Backstroke, Lauren achieved another state qualifying time with a 1:13.93 for 2nd place. Chloe came in ninth with a 1:47.87. Abbigail swam the 100 breaststroke coming in third with a 1:30.30. The girls also swam the 400 Free Relay finishing in third place with a 5:01.19.

The group was invited by John Plumley, North Arkansas Regional Manager of ProMed, to learn and participate alongside other ProMed employees.

Body of missing man found in Randolph County
The body of a man believed to be Anthony Shane Scott, who had been reported missing since Dec. 5, was discovered Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
