Letter to the Editor: On Sunday, September 15, 2024, my son, Rog, and I were traveling from Thayer Missouri to Kennett. We were traveling south on Arkansas Hwy 93 just a few miles south of Dalton, Arkansas. It was raining quite hard and as we rounded a tight curve, Rog’s truck went into a tailspin and we ended up bouncing off a stone wall facing in the opposite direction. We were wearing our seat belts and did not receive injuries.

Former Pocahontas Police Department Officer Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

According to a news release from the Pocahontas Police Department on Tuesday, 40-year-old Arthur Cocherell’s arrest on Sept. 23 followed an investigation that began in late June by the Pocahontas Police Department, Arkansas State Police and the Jonesboro Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

WILLIAM GARY ”BILL” DANIEL

The 7th child, and eldest son of share cropping cotton farmers, William Gary “Bill” Daniel, was born July 3rd, 1947 to William Henry and Elnora Brantley Daniel, he passed peacefully from this life on September 17, 2024. Born in Manila, Arkansas, Bill was an uncle by the time he was 2 years old.

Charles Junior Risenhoover, 79, of Pocahontas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, surrounded by his family. Born on March 3, 1945, in Reyno to Johnny and Thelma Creason Risenhoover, Charles was a kindhearted soul who touched many lives with his kindness.
