Letters written under the following guidelines will be considered for publication: Letters to the Editor are considered for publication on any topic, written in 300 words or less, including name, phone number and city of residence of the writer for verification purposes. Phone numbers will NOT be printed in the newspaper or on the Star Herald website.

The Pocahontas High School Senior Class of 1974 will hold their 50 year class reunion Saturday, Sept. 14 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Pocahontas. Cost for the event and catered meal is $35 per person. The meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. The Friday night before, Sept. 13, the class will be recognized at the Pocahontas Redskin vs. Brookland Bearcats football game at 7 p.m. at Schoonover Stadium. Please make plans to attend and enjoy a time of visiting and reminiscing.

JOSEPH R. MOORE

Joseph R. Moore, 80 formerly of Pocahontas, AR passed away Friday, August 30,2024 in Rogers, AR. He was born July 4,1944 in Beaumont, TX to the late John J Moore and Eileen (Thompson) Moore. Joe graduated from Pocahontas High School, Arkansas State University, and the University of Arkansas. He taught in the political science department at Arkansas State University, before moving to Little Rock where he worked in state and federal positions for over 30 years. Upon his retirement in 2006 he returned to Pocahontas to live. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, John Moore, Jr and James L. Moore. He is survived by his two sisters, Carolyn Goff (James) of Bentonville, Virginia Moore of Centerton, AR, his nephew, Michael Goff, his niece, Julie Joyner (Stephen), and great nieces, Kelsey and Kristen Joyner.
