with John Allen French, Star Herald Regional Sales Director Pocahontas has some great eating establishments— from Don’s Steakhouse to Kerley’s— and I, for one, am proud to have these places in our community. Here at the office, Jenny and I try to eat lunch out about three times a week to visit with folks and, more importantly, to support those businesses that support us at the newspaper.

Ozark Farmways Shares Folkways, Food & Fun at the Ozark Folk Center

Mountain View, Ark. – The Ozark Folk Center State Park Craft Village will host Ozark Farmways workshops on Saturday, June 22. Workshops include Composting for a Healthy Garden; Using goats, sheep and chickens to reclaim land; Make Your Own Sauerkraut; Donkey Power in the Ozarks; Herbal Bug Repellents; History, Herbs and Healing and more. For a schedule, look at the web site at www.OzarkFolk-Center.com. There is no preregistration required and regular Craft Village admission fee covers all workshops. The Village is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

with Jana Caldwell As my face powder hit the floor and the last of it spilled out, I didn’t hesitate at all dropping to my knees to soak up the last bit I needed. I did however, not anticipate Demon Cat taking this as a time to play and rolling over in my small pile. As I watched my last bit of face powder walk off, attached to his fur, I realized, I do have limits. I will not powder my face with a Demon Cat so if I seem a bit shiny today, please forgive me but know I didn’t go there.
