Pocahontas resident Mistina Hibbard, a soon-to-be Randolph County Justice of the Peace, saw her dream come to life this Memorial Day. The community of Pocahontas rallied together to create a moving tribute to fallen soldiers: a Memorial Day Flag Garden, which has been a goal of Hibbard’s for years.
The annual Lynn Snow Memorial Singing will be held on June 1 at the Elnora Church. Special guests this year are Rick Hathcoat and the Pot Belly Boys a southern gospel quartet from Brookland, AR.

The family of Ronnie and Sarah Counts is proud to announce their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. The Counts were married on June 1, 1974, at St. Paul Catholic Church. They have been blessed with three children: Christie (Chris) Couch, Garrett (Michelle) Counts, and Robert (Ashley) Counts, and six grandchildren: Catie, Carter, Logan, Nora, Jaylen, Beau, and Sarah Jo. Ronnie worked for GTE Phone Company in the early years of their marriage and then went on to be self-employed, doing heavy construction work for the local community. Sarah worked as a nurse for 44 years at Pocahontas Medical Clinic before retiring in 2020. Since retiring, they both still lead very active lifestyles, which include being active in the church, camping, and spending time making memories with their family.
