The sayings and expressions of our family and extended clan are deemed worthy of a second column. By use of the word clan I mean families of little or no “blood kin” but who have interacted with the Seawels, Condicts and Elkins for many generations.

From the Humane Society….

Recently in Marked Tree, an unidentified person left a litter of seven puppies in a sealed box in a cemetery. This individual had apparently committed the same crime when his or her unspayed dog had another litter, which received the same “care” back in the spring. The puppies were dehydrated, malnourished, and bloated – their bellies were full of worms. Animal abandonment is a crime in Arkansas, and Marked Tree Animal Rescue is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Auxiliary welcomes men

The VFW Auxiliary, includes men as well. On Apr. 21, 2015, the National Headquarters of the VFW Auxiliary officially changed the name of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary to the Auxiliary. The change acknowledges that women have served in the military, enabling their family members to join the auxiliary. Additionally, any non-combat veteran can join the auxiliary to support the organization.
