Star Herald archives now accessible online thanks to the ASA

In a stride toward preserving Arkansas’s rich history, the Arkansas State Archives (ASA) has made an extensive collection of historic newspapers, including the Pocahontas Star Herald, available online. The ASA, in collaboration with the National Digital Newspaper Program, has digitized issues of the Star Herald from 1908 to 1927, allowing researchers and the general public to explore a treasure chest of information about Randolph County’s past. The ASA’s initiative, part of the National Digital Newspaper Program, has resulted in the digitization of approximately 22,000 rolls of microfilm, encompassing nearly 1800 newspaper titles from all 75 counties in Arkansas. This massive collection, exceeding 22 million pages, has been meticulously preserved by a team of microfilm technicians, archivists and historians known as the Arkansas Digital Newspaper Project (ADNP).
