And she only fell one time…Jana Caldwell, winner of a three-minute shopping spree at American Made General Store in Pocahontas, poses after her victorious haul. The spree, donated by the store and won in a drawing hosted by the Junior Auxiliary of Randolph County for their community project, aimed to assist a struggling family. Jana donated all her winnings to the family, and fellow winner Chris Robinson also contributed his gift card, personifying the spirit of community generosity.

When publishing an article last week concerning a local elected official and the current events surrounding him and a few local churches, I knew I would probably receive a few words of disdain. Bounds’celebrate 75 years of marriage

Slim and Betty Bounds celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 15, at their home with a drop-in celebration with family and friends. They were married on Oct. 15, 1948, in the back of a jewelry store in Pocahontas, AR; they eloped. Betty was supposed to go to the cotton field that day, but she told her mother she couldn’t find her bonnet. So, they left without her and told her to find it and join them. Once they were gone, Slim swooped in, picked her up, and headed to Pocahontas.

Thanksgiving is going to be here very soon so let’s get started on recipes you may want to make for the big day. I thought we would start with some pumpkin dishes. Everywhere I go it seems like there are pumpkins everywhere. So along with the old fashioned pie we will try some different recipes. In our next few columns we will have some meats and side dishes also. so be sure and save any of these you want to use so you can plan on and start buying all the ingredients ahead of time. PHS Class of 1973 celebrates 50th

Members of the PHS Class of 1973 gathered for their 50th reunion last weekend, reliving memories and rekindling friendships. The reunion weekend was filled with activities, including a tour of their alma mater, shared meals at various local eateries and ended with a heartwarming gathering at the Rolling Hills Country Club.
