Randolph County Fair opens with annual parade

Tuesday night saw participants and spectators gather to usher in the annual Randolph County Fair festivities with the annual parade. The procession marks the commencement of a week-long celebration. The parade showed a large number of participants, featuring a mix of entrants, ranging from beauty queens to fire trucks, all contributing to the sights and sounds that marked the event. Our city’s 75-yearold turning train bridge lies in a crumpled heap beside the pier upon which it had rested the past three-quarters of a century, and its conquerors are now attacking its superstructure like ants on fallen prey. In a few days, our familiar landmark will be no more. But, she didn’t go down without a fight!

This morning when Mike got up at 5:30 he decided he needed to charge his Fit Bit Watch. He apparently was trying to be sweet and not turn on the light so he turned on his phone flash light instead. Except… in the dark he hit the wrong setting and the strobe light came on. That of course frustrated him and he had a few choice words for his flash light and the watch he was trying to hook up and the hard floor he was sitting on and at this point, morning life in general. I’m so glad he was being quiet for me. Bless his heart… My husband brought me a cup of coffee in bed this morning. I took a drink and it was horrible. I didn’t want to say anything because he was generous enough to bring it. He was in the kitchen making his and exclaimed “I accidentally used my pod in your coffee! How’s it taste?” I told him it was fine. He came and got it and said “You can’t enjoy coffee in bed if it’s not good coffee.” Then he brought me the right coffee. Awwww, he’s a keeper!

RCHS reps received a frantic call from a very concerned area resident who’d glimpsed an animal in the road ditch near her home. She was well beyond the age of trying to do something to help the animal herself, so she did the only other thing she knew to do – call for help.
