The Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex held the first registered ATA shoot on May 20, with 50 participates. The shooters and spectators enjoyed the perfect weather for the inaugural event. As with most ATA shoots the first event was 100 singles with Hannah Sullivan claiming the top prize with the lone 99. The winners for each Class were Ayden Pollock-Class B, Jason Murray-Class C, Tim Pollock-Class D. The category winners were Sherry Wondel capturing Lady, Jayden Dalton taking Junior, Isaac Hensley Sub-Junior, Keith Barnes Sub-Veteran, David Johnson Veteran, and Richard Thielemier taking Senior Veteran.

Randolph County authorities have apprehended a man in connection with the sexual assault of a teenager that occurred several years ago. The suspect, identified as Jamie Flanery, was taken into custody following an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, July 17, Pocahontas kicked off this year’s annual Juneteenth with a celebration held outside the Eddie Mae Herron Center. The festivities, which began the night before Saturday’s events, consisted of community members cleaning up the Friendship Cemetery, a historic black cemetery located in Randolph County.

Two of the three Randolph County Farm Family members recently signed up to further their education at Black River Technical College (BRTC). The 2023 Randolph County Farm Family is the Hardin family of Water Valley.

It sure is great to be back on the job! As some of you know, I was under the weather and spent a few days in the hospital being poked and probed and awakened all hours of the night. You know the drill! But I am almost back to 100% and ready to think about things good to eat! I must say how much I appreciated JAF for covering for me while I was out and I thought the cooking columns he wrote were fabulous.
