Mark on Markets

We have crossed over the $150,000 mark in our stock market contest. Starting with $100,000 in January 2023, we have earned a fake profit of $50,000 using real-time trades under real market conditions. As you can see, our unrealized gain stands at +50%. During this same time from January until June, the general stock market indexes gained the following: S&P 500 Index = +12.4% Dow Jones Industrial Average = +2.2% Nasdaq 100 Index = +34.5% Not too shabby, still have the rest of June and all of July to either add to our gain, or watch it slip away. No matter what, the results are between me and the market. Nobody will congratulate you if you win and you’re only to blame if you lose. I like this environment. I never want my adversary to be another person. The market has no feelings, no family to feed. We do! You can spend all your free time studying trends and hot stock tips, or you can glance at it once in a blue moon.

Just Jana

I told Mike I wanted to go to Lamberts in Sikeston sometime. He said “Why do you want to go there? I can cook country food as good as they do and if you want, I can throw rolls at you too.” Or that… I talked to a man that just turned 60. When asked how 60 felt, he said he didn’t know because he still feels 40ish. He said a 90 year old woman once told him “You will never get old if you always feel young.” Excellent advice. So I’ve been pondering, if I’m 56 but I feel 16, does that mean I can go back to bed? It is summer break, you know...

Water Valley EHC has June meeting

The Water Valley EHC met June 14 at 10 a.m. at the fire station. Shannon called the meeting to order. We had the pledge to our flag, our homemaker’s creed, and our prayer. We had eye openers; Jane had a framed “Diamond Art” picture, Betty had an old iron, Diane had a piece of jewelry that was wire wrapped because she learned to do this at this year’s state meeting. She also had three walker bags she had completed. You fasten them on a walker, and they have compartments to carry tissue, keys, pencil, paper or whatever you need with you. Shannon had a cookbook she purchased at the state meeting. Kat Robinson was a speaker at the state meeting, and she wrote the cookbook, “Great Arkansas Pie Book.” Shannon had a painting she had done at the state meeting. It was done with acrylic paints. Also, Shannon won the talent show at the state meeting. She won a plaque and some money.
