National Loyalty Day

On May 1, Americans will celebrate National Loyalty Day to reaffirm their loyalty to the United States and American freedom. Every US President since 1955 has designated May 1 as Loyalty Day. The day serves as an opportunity for Americans to reflect on their heritage and unite around the country’s basic ideals. The importance of loyalty and freedom, especially for those serving in the military, is highlighted in the messages shared by each president. While opinions may differ on other topics, the central message of unity remains constant. To support American freedom, the VFW Auxiliary Americanism Committee encourages everyone to fly their flags on May 1 in observance of Loyalty Day.
