Arkansas Parole Board to hold monthly meetings

The Arkansas Parole Board will hold its regular monthly board meetings for March on Thursday, March 9 in the Parole Board lobby and again on Thursday, March 23 in the Richard Lee Richardson Auditorium located at 1302 Pike Ave in North Little Rock. The meetings will begin at 9:00 a.m. and are open to the public. During the meetings, the Board will deliberate on individual cases on several dates throughout the month, including Friday, March 3, Wednesday, March 8, Friday, March 10, Monday, March 13, Friday, March 17, Wednesday, March 22, Friday, March 24, Monday, March 27, Tuesday, March 28, Wednesday, March 29, Thursday, March 30 and Friday, March 31 at 9:00 a.m. in the office of the Chairman, Mr. John Felts, located at 1302 Pike Ave, Suite D in North Little Rock.

“Opal’s Million Dollar Duck” continues the “Opal” series at the Downtown Playhouse

“Opal’s Million Dollar Duck,” a hilarious comedy written by Pulitzer Prize winning play write and screenwriter, John Patrick, will open the 2023 season at the Downtown Playhouse. Patrick has written some 30 plays with several Broadway successes. Director Kelly Grooms said this is one of Patrick’s Broadway comedies in the “Opal” series. “There is “Opal’s Christmas,” “Opal’s Husband,” and several others. We’ve done “Everybody Loves Opal,” the original, and people might remember that one because it was a big hit. All the “Opal” plays often follow very similar plot lines.”

Ruby Burkholder

Ruby Irene Burkholder, 94, of Pocahontas, Arkansas passed away on January 24, 2023, at Randolph County Nursing Home. Ruby was born on April 12, 1928, in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas to Thomas and Iva Higgins. Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Dickey and second husband Ben Burkholder; son Ronald Irwin Dickey; and brother Thomas Doyle Higgins.

Alvin Leon Guntharp 83, of Pocahontas, passed away February 22, 2023, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House surrounded by his family. Leon was born in Ravenden Spring to the late Lehman Guntharp and Virgie Mae O’Dell Guntharp on October 10, 1939. He was retired from GTE Communication.
