The Randolph County 4-H Livestock Club recently held their monthly meeting at the Randolph County Extension Office. During the meeting, members were educated about rabbits by Brian Shore and new officers were elected for the 2023 year.
The Kevin King Memorial Scholarship committee is pleased to announce that applications are now available for graduating high school seniors in Sharp, Randolph, Lawrence and Jackson Counties. One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a graduating senior from each county in May 2023.
Heaven gained the sweetest of angels on February 28th, 2023 when little Huxlee Edward Newman gained his wings. Born November 8th, 2022, to Morgan Newman and Jacob Trowbridge, Huxlee was with us for such a short time but will live in our hearts forever. He leaves behind a large family to cherish his memory.

This story of a puppy born to a family that couldn’t care for him highlights the issue of pet abandonment and neglect due to human irresponsibility. The puppy was initially loved when he was cute, but as he grew up, his owners lost interest and neglected him. They didn’t provide him with basic necessities like food, water, shelter, and medical care, which led to his deteriorating health.
With football season just ahead, Pocahontas High School Athletic Director Dave Williams knows he has no easy task facing him. In fact, it was largely the prospect of a considerable challenge that brought the 13-year veteran football coach to Pocahontas where victory stayed in the camps of Redskin opponents for the last two seasons.
