
Redskins go 1-2 for the week
The Senior Redskins started the week with a Tuesday night game at Schoonover Field House losing to the 5A Batesville Pioneers 46-43. The Pioneers led 13-9 at the end of the first quarter and 23-16 at the end of the half.

A busy week of basketball ended on a high note for the Lady Greyhounds beating Bay Yellowjackets 50-43 in the first round of the NEA Tournament held at Brookland High School on Saturday. Sloan-Hendrix came on strong in the last half scoring 30 points to beat a strong Bay team.

Beta Sigma Phi decided to spread some Christmas cheer with the children and parents at Hope House. Britne Harwell, Beta Sigma Phi Women of the Year, spoke at the Founder’s Day meeting and made a compelling plea for helping to provide these children with some experiences that other children often take for granted.

Some Senior Citizens of Pocahontas enjoyed a fall BBQ festival last month while mingling with friends and playing BINGO. A few even dressed in costumes for the occasion.
‘Tis the season to be jolly? A recent trip to Jonesboro produced many interesting situations for me and Presley. Everyone knows a Saturday in Jonesboro is maddening, add in it being the middle of December and you get a big ole cluster.

The Randolph County Quorum Court passed two appropriation ordinances, received updates from elected officials and discussed health insurance in its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 10 at the Randolph County Courthouse. Justice Carl Wells was absent and Justice David Statler attended by phone.

In a Monday night conference opener played at Schoonover Field House, the PHS Redskins beat the Highland Rebels (4-1 record at beginning of game) 44-33. Both teams played tough defense from start to finish with the Redskins holding Highland to one point in the last quarter.
