Lady Redskins lose to Wynne

Pocahontas Lady Redskins lost to the Wynne Lady Yellowjackets in a Tuesday night conference game at Wynne 47-38. The game was tied at end of end of the first quarter 8-8, however Wynne outscored the Redskins 11-9 in the second quarter to lead 19-17 at the half. Yellowjackets came on strong in the second half scoring 28 points to Pocahontas’ 21 and won the game 47-38. Pocahontas plays Crane, Mo. at 10:00 AM on December 28th in the CS Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament at Berryville.

Local farmer featured in 2023 calendar

James Ward, local cattle farmer, had no idea his participation in a local tractor show would land him on a farm calendar for 2023, but indeed it did just that. The annual event sponsored by Orscheln Farm and Home in 2022 highlights 12 different antique tractor owners with their show-winning tractors and their hometowns.

Edington Accepts Promotion

Black River Technical College is pleased to announce Beverly Edington of Pocahontas was promoted to Campus Store and Procurement Manager. Edington earned an Associate of Applied Science from Three Rivers Community College. She has been employed at BRTC since 2007, most recently as Fiscal Support Analyst. & Student Accounts.

BRTC students prepare for Draft Day

Black River Technical College Concurrent and Technical Center Seniors have started preparing for Draft Day 2023. Spencer Dunlap and Dr. Terri Cox visited the BRTC campuses to assist students in producing resumes. Students will also participate in mock interviews before Draft Day in April when they will be interviewing with Arkansas companies for high-demand, high-wage jobs.

Benefit Yard Sale at Maynard

Maynard Special Olympics will be having a yard sale on Jan. 6 from 4-9 p.m. and Jan. 7 from 8 a.m. -noon. The yard sale will be in the high school cafeteria. There will be several items such as: clothes, toys, DVDs, books, home decor, housewares, coats, and much more. The fundraiser yard sale will help pay for Special Olympic field trips and events.
