Sloan-Hendrix Basketball

The Sloan-Hendrix Senior Boys traveled to Vilonia to take on the 5A Eagles in a Monday night game. The Greyhounds were down four points late in the fourth quarter, but Vilonia surged to win 56-44 giving the Greyhounds their first loss of season.

Friday Night Lights

Pocahontas’ Connor Baker set the state career record for rushing touchdowns this past Friday night as the Redskins rolled Lincoln 56-14 in the first round of the state playoffs. Baker’s tally of 181 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries brought his career total to 99 rushing touchdowns, eclipsing the mark of former Clarendon star Cedric Houston, who scored 97 rushing touchdowns from 1997-2000.

#4 The state record maker Redskin breaks state rushing touchdown record Friday, November 11, 2022, will forever be remembered as a night full of cheers, confetti, fireworks and history making moments, thanks to the Pocahontas Redskins Football team and their senior quarterback. Redskin quarterback Connor Baker, 17, broke the 20-yearold record for rushing touchdowns at the top of the second quarter with 99 TDs at Friday night’s football game on Schoonover Field against Lincoln, during the first round of the state playoffs.

Confessions of a Constitutionalist

Election Day is over. While we still have a runoff race, most of the races have been decided. I send out heartfelt thanks to every citizen who voted. As always, there are results that surprise some and are expected by others. However, the people have spoken and time moves on. My hope is that we will all support candidates that follow the constitution and believe in it. The actions of those elected will tell the tale.
