A lifetime collection

According to lionel. com, inventor Joshua Lionel Cowen constructed the first Lionel train around 1900 as an eye-catching toy store display, not for sale. However, by 1906 Cowen introduced the preassembled track and a selection of engines and cars marking the beginning of the Lionel train known today. In the early 1900’s, Americans were captivated by the railroad system and in awe of electricity as it was still a rarity in many homes, making Lionel a coveted

Imboden News

This week’s posting will conclude my articles on the Town of Imboden. In 1970s the Bank Imboden donated the original Bank of Imboden building site, corner of North Hickory and Highway 63, to Town of Imboden. Members of the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department under the leadership of Ray Poteet and Dick Livingston, with revenue sharing funds, built a fire station to house equipment meeting room/city hall. Location served as main fire station city hall until Town of Imboden, with cooperation with Sloan-Hendrix School, built a new larger station on Highway 115 on south side of Sloan-Henddrix campus. Imboden has added a city office to the building and leases a portion of the building to the Arkansas Forestry Service. The old fire station, corner of North Hickory and Highway 63, is now occupied by Pro-Med Ambulance Service who furnishes a full-time ambulance service for Imboden and surrounding area.
