PHS Class of 1972 Celebrates 50 Year Reunion

The PHS Class of 1972 held their 50 year reunion at the Rolling Hills Country Club Saturday evening with several classmates and their spouses attending. Terry Hatfield honored the deceased members of the class, gave the invocation, and took us on a musical journey “back home again.” After a buffet meal, Eddie Jones entertained the group with “remember when” occurrences of our school years together and the changing world we live in today.

Effective Monday

Effective Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, the Sanitation Department will only pick up City issued trash cans. For those residents in need of additional trash cans, you may request your additional trash cans at City Hall Mayor’s office (410 N Marr). Residents will have to go to City Hall to sign the request, the person signing must be the one on the water bill.

The City of Pocahontas is seeking a logo design forthe upcoming Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex.The logo design should try to incorporate the four shooting disciplines: shotgun, bow, rifle, and pistol, along with outdoor scenery common throughout Randolph County. Due by November 4 at 4:00 p.m. The top three designs will be submitted to the city council for final approval at the November 8 city council meeting. Logo submissions should be turned in to City Hall on an 8” x11” sheet of paper.

Let’s go girls…

Pocahontas resident and nurse at Pocahontas’s First Choice Healthcare, Allecia Tribble, found a lump in her breast during a self-exam in 2009. She said she was getting regularly scheduled screenings but found the lump in between mammograms.
