The 29th Annual ESNA Novaria/BRTC Foundation Golf Tournament, held Friday, September 23 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Pocahontas, was a success, raising over $42,000. Proceeds from the event are used by the BRTC Foundation to fund student scholarships.

Maynard Elementary had its monthly ROAR Awards for August and September. Many students were caught exhibiting great character traits at school. ROAR stands for Responsible, Organized, Achieve & Respect.

Lion and Phoenix Productions, the traveling company of the Imperial Dinner Theatre, will be bringing a family friendly dinner show to Pocahontas for a matinee on Oct. 23.

Members of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ have heard the call of need in their community and responded with the addition of The Compassion Closet for foster children to the 405 Pyburn Street church campus. Pocahontas resident Jane Hueter said she recognized the need for the compassion closet while visiting her daughter outof- state.

Plans to bring A Riverfront Christmas back to the Pocahontas Overlook Park are underway and the city of Pocahontas is looking for sponsors to help ensure the success and expansion of this year’s lightshow.

In the 4A-3 conference, The Pocahontas Redskins went into district tournament with 4 players ranked. In boys’ singles, Logan Earley (Sr) was 5th out of 11; in girls’ singles, Brooklyne Smith (Jr) was 3rd out of 12; in girls’ doubles, Carli Chester & Brynnison Smith (sophomores) ranked 4th of 11 teams.
