PHS Class of 1966 Reunion Oct 15

The Pocahontas High School Class of 1966 is planning a reunion for Saturday, October 15, 2022. Classmates are encouraged to meet at the high school for a group photo in front of the old rock building at 4:30 p.m. Couples photos will also be taken. A Meet ‘n’ Greet and buffet dinner will follow at the Rolling Hills Country Club. Cost is $30/person. Simonton benefit November 5

There will be a BBQ Dinner served on November 5, 2022, at the American Legion in Pocahontas, starting at 6:00 PM to benefit the Simonton family. A live auction and bake sale will follow the BBQ dinner. There will also be a gun raffle. Tickets are on sale for a chance to win a Winchester 12-gauge SXP, which was sponsored by M&M Farm and Home. Ticket price is $1 a piece or $6 for 5. (Do not have to be present to win).

Parents are encouraged to call the school and make an appointment to meet with their child’s teachers on this date. The City of Pocahontas is seeking a logo design for the upcoming Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex

The City of Pocahontas is seeking a logo design for the upcoming Five Rivers Shooting Sports Complex.The logo design should try to incorporate the four shooting disciplines: shotgun, bow, rifle, and pistol, along with outdoor scenery common throughout Randolph County. Due by November 4 at 4:00 p.m. The top three designs will be submitted to the city council for final approval at the November 8 city council meeting. Logo submissions should be turned in to City Hall on an 8” x11” sheet of paper.

The Sloan-Hendrix Board of Education met for the rescheduled regular school board meeting in the District Administration Building on Monday, September 26, 2022, with the following members present for the meeting: Robert Stallings, Ricky Benson, Wade Spence, Aaron Murphy, and Chris Jones.
