Around the Kitchen Table with Nanny
Breakfast is one of my favorite meals. It’s an easy meal and always good to satisfy even the hungriest person around your table. We love it any time and often have egg and bacon meals at noon or in the evening. I like the Make Ahead Breakfast Casserole because you make it the night before and just pop it into the oven the next morning. It is especially helpful if you have overnight guests.

Join us for a Ghost Walk and get introduced to the spirits and spine-tingling tales of ghostly happenings! Powhatan Historic State Park is home to a number of ghost stories, folktales, and legends. Is the courthouse really haunted? What makes the rattling in the jail? Did a ball of light just float by? These ghostly tales may very well be hauntingly true, or more likely just flights of fancy. Some of THE worst “old wives’ tales,” by far are really old and have been circulating for many years. One of those is that a cat will suck the breath out of a baby. When a potential grandmother phoned me years ago and wanted help rehoming her daughter’s cat for that very reason, I wanted to reach through the phone and choke her! How utterly ridiculous to think such a thing! Cats are curious by nature, and if anything, they might get into a baby’s crib to SNIFF the child, but no way can they suck their breath. The key is to be vigilant and watch the baby closely and certainly watch any interaction between baby and kitty.
Simonton benefit Nov 5
There will be a BBQ Dinner served on November 5, 2022, at the American Legion in Pocahontas, starting at 6:00 PM to benefit the Simonton family. A live auction and bake sale will follow the BBQ dinner.

Ford – Dean Family Reunion
The annual Ford-Dean family reunion will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Pocahontas Community Center. The address is 300 Geneva Drive in Pocahontas. This location has more parking space and easier access into the building. We have missed the last 2 years due to the covid epidemic. We hope to have a good turnout this year.

In honor of Global Day of Student Prayer on Wednesday, September 28, students will be having a “See You At The Pole” gathering and prayer starting at 7 AM. See You At The Pole began with a small group of students in Texas in 1990 and continues to inspire students to get together to pray for their friends, family, school, community, and the world!
