Randolph County Commodity Distribution Wednesday September

A commodity distribution for Randolph County is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. or while food supply last. The distribution will take place at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church located at 17723 Hwy 90 West in Ravenden Springs, AR. and at the Pocahontas Community Center located at 205 Geneva Street Pocahontas, AR. This will be a Drive-Thru Distribution. Participants may choose one location to pick up their food.

From the Humane Society….

Look at what these hard-working kids at Jungle Gym Adventures & Learning Academy and their parents did for the Randolph County Humane Society! They had a very successful bake sale, and the food was delicious! They raised LOTS of money for their end of summer pool party and chose to help the unwanted animals in Randolph County with their leftover funds.

Taco Casa gets a change

After the passing of Doris Halcomb, former Taco Casa co-owner and wife of Randy Halcomb, Taco Casa is now under the management of new owners Stoney and Lynn Cook and it is now called “The Cookery Taco Casa.” The Cooks were longtime friends and workers under the Halcomb family and are aiming to pay tribute to Randy and Doris’ legacy by recreating the Taco Casa they knew and loved, with some new flavors and styles. They began their new ownership by redecorating the interior of the restaurant, removing the old carpets, and putting in new hardwood floors, removing walls and booths, replacing them with tables, and even adding a new mural.

Medical clinic breaks ground

First Choice Healthcare held a groundbreaking for their upcoming medical center, set to open in August of 2023, on Monday, August 29. Brigitte McDonald, the CEO of First Choice, spoke at the groundbreaking, along with several other guest speakers, including doctors, the mayor of Pocahontas, and representatives from US and state senator and congressman’s offices.
