Hibbard Reunion

After a 2-year break, the descendants of George W. and Mary Ellen Hibbard will meet Saturday, August 13th at the First Freewill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 301 NW 7th Street, Walnut Ridge, AR. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with potluck at noon. All family & friends are invited to attend.

Pacific Islander event a success

This past Saturday, many citizens of Pocahontas gathered on the court square to celebrate and support the Pacific Islander members of the community at the Second Annual Pacific Islander Festival. The event had dozens of vendors, tons of live entertainment, games, and hundreds of participants, including many of the Marshallese and Pacific Islanders of the community.

BRTC Library open to public

At Black River Technical College, the campus library is available to the general public. Unfortunately, according to Mark Warnick, the various resources available to the community, including copy machines, study rooms, computers, and their entire book selection, are rarely utilized by anyone in the community other than students.

Noon on Wednesday

Noon on Wednesday, August 3, is the first day to file as a candidate for the annual School Board Election. Filing can be done with the county clerk. This is also the first day a write-in candidate for the annual School Board Election can file a Notice of Intent with the Randolph County Clerk.
