Another hot but sunny Sunday afternoon. But hey, we are Arkansas people, used to the hot and humid days of summer so I’m not complaining, it’s a wonderful place to be. I spent the morning in church and enjoyed another good sermon by Pastor Pat. We have been out of church for a while due to health issues so it is wonderful to be back. I’m thinking of some easy meals through this hot weather. Hope you enjoy them.
Clay County Electric Cooperative of Corning recently returned more than $1.6 million in capital credits to their members. The not-forprofit, member-owned cooperative has retired more than $19 million in capital credits to members since 1938.
Glenn and Mary Clark are the owners of Mildred’s Spice Corner, a small shop In Pocahontas that offers spices, honey, cheese, and various other specialty foods and items. The couple has only been in business for a brief time, but the store has already been attracting plenty of positive attention from customers in the area.

A room full of children and adults attended the third session of the Randolph County Library children’s summer reading and storytime on Thursday, June 23 at the library. The program, entitled “Oceans of Possibilities,” featured ventriloquist Diana Rockwell and her cast of delightful puppet characters. Not only was the show unique and the antics of the puppets very entertaining - the children were able to meet one of the puppets, Salty, up close - the show was also educational.
After a very successful 2022 season opener in March with the dramatic production of “Our Town,” the Downtown Playhouse’s summer offering will be a side splitting comedy written by Neil Simon, “The Odd Couple Female Version.”
A meeting for the Randolph County Quorum Court was held on Thursday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Randolph County Courthouse. The Court heard updates from County Judge Ronald Barnett and other elected officials at the meeting. Other members present included Justice Randy Barber, Justice Joey Bryant, Justice Doris Sharp, Justice David Statler, Justice Jim Steimel, Justice Carl Wells and Justice Kelly Heslep Wright.
