The children of Billy and Dena Alphin hosted a reception in their honor to celebrate 50 years of marriage. A beautiful gathering of family and friends occurred on April 30 at the St John Parish Hall in Engleberg.

Over 175 Randolph County voters gathered at the James Ranch on Thursday, April 28 to hear from a few of the Randolph County Judge Candidates as they participated in the first annual Randolph County Judge Debate.
This past week many of you joined me at the James Ranch for the big County Judge Debate. The James Ranch did an exceptional job in hosting the event. I love watching people. I always get tickled at politicians going out of their way to be friendly. I mean they need to be, or they won’t get elected. They are working hard to find a connection with you. Maybe your uncle’s dog groomer is their dog’s groomer and then the conversation is on. There were handshakes and hugs. Throughout the night I moved around the take pictures of the event. I caught some people shaking their heads in disagreement and others clapping in favor of a statement.

More Randolph County “Firsts” in the State of Arkansas… De Munn Mill was the first mill built in Arkansas and was located near the mouth of Mill Creek in 1822. The first Masonic Lodge in Arkansas was built in Randolph County in the Brakebill community.
Voices from the past. While watching a TV show that featured outstanding singers recently, my mind began to remember great voices I’ve heard locally.
Walking through the grocery store yesterday and a woman stopped me: “You look adorable today. I mean, I don’t know what you normally look like but today you’re cute.” Have something funny to tell you.
Mother’s Day is the one day a year when Mother gets to put her feet up and is waited on hand and foot by her minion. Father brings her an iced coffee, just the way she likes it. The children deliver the remote control, blankets, and a snack. Uninterrupted, Mother watches an entire episode of BBC-produced British period piece on PBS. It is pure bliss.
