Around the Kitchen Table with Nanny

What a beautiful spring day, sunny, a little cool, but still a day to enjoy being outside. What I enjoy about this time of the year is seeing the beautiful jonquils in bloom. As you drive down the highways you see so many of them along the ditch banks, in people’s yards and you can always spot where the old home places stood back through the years by the amount of jonquils you see in bloom. They are really survivors of time. Always favorites of mine.

Shelba “Shelby” Jean Roberts, of Maynard passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 on her 83rd birthday at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. She was born March 21, 1939 in the Glaze Creek Community to Emmanell Rapert. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of Columbia-Jarrett Baptist Church.

Library Gets Some Magical Art

Over Spring Break, Randolph County resident and Hoxie High School Art Teacher, Jamie Farrar spent her week away from work doing what she does best, creating art “I’ve been wanting this done for a long time,” said Randolph County Library Director Brenda Davis. “You can’t help but smile when you see her amazing work.” With the help of her daughter, Caleigh, Farrar turned the entire staircase wall to the children’s section of the library into a scene from a storybook.

Bros for life…Pocahontas Mayor Keith Sutton welcomes Artie, Pocahontas’ Official Easter Bunny, to town on Thursday, March 24. Survival Flight of Pocahontas delivered Artie to the Municipal Airport in East Pocahontas. Mayor Sutton and Artie have planned lots of “Eggcellent” surprises for the citizens of the city. The Star Herald will keep its readers up to date on all of Artie’s adventures.

Maynard Elementary Chess Compete in Tournament

The Maynard Elementary Chess team competed in the North Arkansas Educational Cooperative Elementary Chess tournament held on Wednesday, March 16th. The students competed against other students from various schools in the Co-op region. Jordan Haney won four out of five games and received a trophy for his accomplishment. The students enjoyed the chess tournament and lunch at Subway in Walnut Ridge.
