Deronda Gail Jackson Luter

Deronda Gail (Jackson) Luter, 80, was called to her eternal home on February 28, 2022. Not only did she see the face of Jesus, but she was reunited with the love of her life, Terrill, who she lost only three short months ago. Gail was born on November 28, 1941 to Ray and Juanita Jackson in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1961.

Terrill Luter

Terrill Luter, 78, made a peaceful transition to his heavenly home on November 23, 2021 after an extended battle with lung cancer. Terrill was born on June 30, 1943 to Theo and Nadine Luter in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He spent his youth there working on his family dairy farm until he graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1961.

Frankie McCann Friddle A native of Pocahontas, Arkansas and a resident of Livonia, La passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age 63.. She was always full of life and it showed in her day to day life.

Phelps Particpates in PBS Engaging Families Video

Every year educators from across the state receive special training as part of professional development. In 2022, all Arkansas educators are required to receive training in Family and Community Engagement. In her role of Family and Community Engagement Coordinator at Pocahontas Public Schools, Bridget Phelps is taking to the small screen, in hopes to encourage others to step outside of their communication comfort zone and welcome in others.

Rhinestones and a smile… Allie Brooks, a junior at Pocahontas High School, was crowned Miss Redskin 2022 at the Miss Redskin Pageant held at the PJHS gymnasium on Saturday, March 5. Brooks is the daughter of Craig and Brandy Brooks of Pocahontas. Winners of the other Miss Redskin divisions can be seen on page 8. The Miss Redskin pageant is sponsored by the Pocahontas Cheerleading team.

And that’s a wrap… The Pocahontas Redskins ended their 2021-2022 basketball season with a 74-46 loss to Mills University in the 4A Regional Tournament at Highland High School. Mason Baltz, season score leader, is pictured taking the ball to the hoop. Baltz finished the game with 19 points, three rebounds and three assists.
